African Safari holidays offer the thrill of a lifetime for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. A safari is usually synonymous with the African trip and traditionally with a big-game hunt. However, the term now-a-days refers to the African trip intended to observe, enjoy and photograph wildlife. Many tourist agencies can arrange well-planned safaris that suit the interests and purpose of holiday activity.

The most popular destinations for African safari holidays include Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia. Safaris may include small-tented camps to large resort accommodations. Tourists can view the Big Five on foot or horseback, in vehicles, elephant backs or boats, depending on the type of terrain and interests. The Big Five refers to the Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, Lion and Rhino.

Kenya, the most popular holiday destination provides a variety of opportunities. It features incredible wildlife, unspoiled wilderness, world-class lodges and excellent internal flight network that connect it to all parts of the country. Kenya safari holidays popularly include the Masai Mara Reserve that hosts the annual migration of wildebeast and zebra, the Amboseli National park that allows one to view the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Lake Nukuru and many more. The less explored include Lewa Conservancy, Meru National Park, Chyulu hills, Laikipia, and many more.

Choosing the right African safari holidays is a daunting task because of the innumerable safaris at wildly different packages. It depends on the objectives of the tour, climate of the destination, and type of safari intended - luxurious or low budget.

Masai Mara in Kenya, Kruger National Park in South Africa and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania are good choices to view the Big Five. Rwanda and Uganda provide an opportunity to observe Gorillas, while Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania is popular for Chimpanzees. Okavango Delta in Botswana is abundant with elephants, and the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area in East Africa host Lions. The probability of catching a glimpse of the Black Rhino is more in Etosha, Kruger and Chobe National Parks. Canoeing Safari in the Zambezi River, the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania and Liwonde National Park in Malawi are the perfect picks for watching Hippos and Crocodiles.

Apart from jeeps, tourists can enjoy African safari holidays by watching wildlife on a camel or a horse. An elephant back safari at Abu Camp in the Okavango Delta, Botswana offers a different experience. A walking safari with highly knowledgeable guides or a canoeing safari along the Zambezi River can be a lot more exciting. The Balloon safari at Serengeti Plains provides unforgettable moments of watching the annual migration of wild beasts.

With so many options available, it is advisable and convenient to use the services of any trusted tourist agency. The agencies offer tailor-made African safari holidays. However, the tourist has to make sure that his chosen holidays are protected with ABTA and ATOL. The personal experience of the travel consultants helps the visitor to choose an ideal safari package.

5 Bali Accommodations Worth Staying in at Sanur Beach

Sanur is one of the oldest tourist villages on Bali island and has an excellent choice of Bali accommodations to choose from. That's probably also the reason why so many older European travelers love to stay and come back to this fishing village on Bali's east coast.

The streets of these resorts are lined with mature trees, well-trimmed gardens and all of them are located along the beach pavement which continues for at least 5 kilometers, ideal for those with strollers, wheelchairs and those with prams.

Here are 5 recommended Bali accommodations worth staying in which will probably make you a return traveler too.
  1. The first one is called La Taverna, which is Balinese owned and is also one of the oldest hotels in Sanur. They have several types of accommodation to choose from but the best to stay at is the thatched bungalows. Their beach front restaurant is a popular place to hang out set among lit candles and with tables on the beach. Around $61-82 US per night
  2. Next in the line is called the Puri Santrian resort which has gorgeous gardens, pools, Balinese statues and an excellent 'buy one, get one free' spa policy. The best value for money are the rooms at the Santrian Club which includes American breakfast, free daily fruit platter, high tea with snacks and for those travelers who really want peace and quiet this is the place since kids are not allowed inside the Santrian Club. Around $140 US per night
  3. One hotel has been copied throughout Bali and this one is called the Bali Hyatt. Their landscaped gardens and design can now be found among several resorts. It has a wonderful stretch of private beach, probably the best in Sanur, and has the availability of a huge garden. The Hyatt's location is fantastic, right in the center of all the action. Around $114-145 US per night.
  4. The Mercure resort is located in the south of the village and is an ideal hotel for families with young kids. There's a kids club with several activities and their pools are also the ideal place to make friends. For parents there are enough sun loungers on the beach to enjoy some moments of rest. Around $82-114 US per night.
  5. Villa Puri Ayu is the only one in this Bali accommodations list which is not located right at the beach but it will take you only 100 meters to get there. This hotel is one of the small scale Bali accommodations and has some lovely bungalows where you definitely get value for money. Around $41-49 US per night.
